Ahead of the major event later this year in Qatar, in which the Black Stars will also compete, Ghanaian politician and entrepreneur Hassan Ayariga has provided some sound advice.
According to him, they should take height into account when calling up players for the squad, since the majority of Black Stars players are now too short.
Speaking to GHOne TV, the All People’s Congress (APC) and the People’s National Convention (CPP) presidential candidate for the December 2012 election said that height is critical in football matches.
He mentioned the World Cup playoffs between Ghana and Nigeria, claiming that the Nigerians had a physical and mental edge over the Black Stars due to its huge players.
Hassan Ariyaga continued by stating that he is not opposed to short individuals, but that if games are to be won, we must consider his stance.
Ghanaians like putting short players in our Black Stars team.
…sometimes it’s a disadvantage to us because you go and Nigeria has all these huge players then it becomes like a child standing in front of his father. #StarrSports #MorningStarr Cc @K_Mensah82 pic.twitter.com/FCOD0o9KgX
