Scores dead in Bogoso, with several others sustaining varying degree of injuries following an explosion of a tanker
Hundreds of people are said to have perished in a gas explosion that occurred today, Thursday, January 20, 2022, in Bogoso, Prestea Huni Valley Municipality in the Western Region.
The deceased are believed to be victims of an explosion that happened at Appiate following a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle transporting a container suspected to contain mining explosives.
The truck caught fire seconds after the accident, destroying the neighbourhood and killing over a hundred people.
Windscreens of cars in close proximity to the explosion site were cracked as a result of the explosion. Additionally, houses and buildings were destroyed after they caught fire as a result of the explosion.
Aseda Hospital, a significant facility in the area, is filled with accident victims, while others are being sent to the Bogoso Health Centre.
Those who survived the frightening disaster were also sent to Tarkwa and neighbouring hospitals for treatment.
