“No player took ‘juju’ to Cameroon” – GFA debunks reports
The Ghana Football Association, (GFA) has cleared the rumors that some players of the Black Stars took charms and their mallams to camp during the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cameroon.
The Black Star team was removed from the tournament after failing to win a single match in the competition.
Recall, reports came out that some senior players took their mallams and ‘juju’ to the camp and their hotel rooms and that’s what led the team to be kicked out.
The Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Asante Twum has debunked the news that they are only trying to destroy the image of the Black Star team.
He said, “We all have beliefs as individuals. There was no day that I slept before 3 am. And I didn’t hear any Mallam chanting. No Mallam was hired for the Black Stars. There is no chance that juju exists in the Black Stars. The players have their individual beliefs and we can’t stop them.”
He added, “We will fight to qualify for the World Cup. We believe that not qualifying for the World Cup will do our industry more harm.”
