Mobile money agents to go on strike over 1.75% e-levy on electronic transactions

Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana (MMAAG) has shared a statement indicating to embark on a sit-down strike on Thursday, December 23, 2020, over the new E-levy imposed on electronic transactions.

According to them, they will close all agent stations and shops because of the new E-levy introduced by the finance minister in the 2022 budget.

The leaders of MMAAG voiced out that, their actions on Thursday are to show displeasure in the government’s decision.

They added that the 1.75% E-levy imposed by the government will affect them badly so they are ready to go on a sit-down strike if the government didn’t do anything about it.
