Imputed Righteousness: What does it mean

    imputed righteousness

According to the Holy Bible, Imputed Righteousness simply means right positioning or right standing has been credited to you. One can also see it as an exchange. This term is one of those religious terms you’ve seen in most Scriptures.

However, most people find it complex to digest. We believe that Jesus Christ lives a sinless and perfect life and he takes his righteousness and credits it to your account.

Here, you get access to righteousness not because of something you’ve done but because, he, Jesus Christ has given it to you for free. This is what we term imputed righteousness.

    Imputed Righteousness Bible Verse

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

“God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.” (1 Corinthians 1:28-30)

“But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:21-24)

“For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” (Romans 5:17-19)

Why Do We Need Imputed Righteousness?

First of all, ask yourself why you need Jesus Christ in your life. We all need imputed righteousness because we don’t have the capacity to get it on our own unless from Christ. The best effort we can put up to get this type of righteousness is when we put up strong and positive responses toward God’s needs and wants.

In the Bible, Isaiah 64:6 compares our righteousness to filthy rags, and Romans 3:10 also recollects us that none of us is righteous enough.

How Can We Receive Imputed Righteousness?

God always wants to credit anyone who is indeed willing to believe and receive imputed righteousness. Romans 3:22 says that, Righteousness is available by faith in Christ to all those who believe. It’s like a two way road.

You can either struggle through the kid to get Righteousness on your own which is similarly impossible or you can do everything in your power to get it for free from God through faith in Jesus. These are the only two available options for all Christians; the choice is yours.

What Are The Four Types Of Righteousness?

According to the Holy Bible, there are four types of Imputed Righteousness. The Reformers also termed it as Passive Righteousness. The four types of Righteousness are the righteousness of faith, the righteousness of the Gospel, alien righteousness, and Christian righteousness
