It’s now vague if the President of Guinea, Alpha Condé has been overthrown or not as an unverified video has surfaced being in the hands of soldiers.
Though it’s being reported that the soldiers have staged a coup but the defense minister has disclosed that the attempt had been prevented.
The report comes from the neck of heavy gunfire near the presidential palace in the nation’s capital, Conakry.
The soldiers are however said to be patrolling the deserted streets of the city centre and terrified residents of the Central Kaloum have succumbed to the soldiers’ orders to stay in their homes.

The video that has surfaced has the soldiers from a unit of elite special forces as they’ve asked the President to affirm that he’s unharmed but has refused to respond.
All land and air borders have been closed by the dissolved government and the mainland bridge connecting to the Kaloum peninsular that houses ministries and presidential palace has been sealed off.
