Government of Ghana now owns AirtelTigo

The giant telecommunication Airtel Tigo now belongs to the government of Ghana

According to the news released by Bharti Airtel which founder is Sunil Bharti Mittal, the transfer has successfully been done

On October 27, 2020, and April 16, 2021, they released news that the government of Ghana is taking over the Airtel/Tigo Joint Ventures and the transaction has been completed

Information reaching us is that AirtelTigo is now a state-owned entity of the government of Ghana

The government of Ghana now owns 100% of the shares of the giant telecommunication Airtel/Tigo including the customers and liabilities

The statement reads;

“This is in further to our announcement dated October 27, 2020, and April 16, 2021, regarding the Government of Ghana’s takeover of ownership of Airtel/Tigo Joint Venture. We wish to update that the transaction has been completed and 100% shares of Airtel Tigo have been transferred to the Government of Ghana.”
