Ghana to take home $5 million if Black Stars win AFCON as CAF increases prize cash
The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) grand prize has been increased which means Ghana will earn $5 Million if the Black Stars is able to win the cup in Cameroon
The increment came up after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided to increase the prize money of the tournament by $500,000.
The Increment decision was made after the Executive Committee meeting led by the president, Dr. Patrice Motsepe in Douala hence the winner won’t receive the previous amount of $4.5 million but $5 million.
However, the runner-up of the AFCON will also earn $2.75 million and the semi-finalist will also take 2.2 million.
Quarterfinals in the tournament will also earn an amount of $1.175 million. The AFCON will officially start on Sunday with the hosting country, Cameroon having the first game with Burkina Faso.
Ghana Black Star will take on Morocco in an opening match of Group C.
