The Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation in Ghana AIDS Commission, Mr. Atuahene Kyeremeh has released their statement about the passage of the Anti-LGBTQ Bill
He reveals that AIDS donors will stop funding for the management of the infection if the Anti-LGBTQ bill is passed
According to Mr. Atuahene Kyeremeh, the money they used to manage the infection are from donors and they will withdraw if the Anti-LGBTQ bill is passed and it will put the country in danger
He declares on Thursday that “Donor funding for the HIV response covers the HIV and TB services for men who have sex with men and transgender people.
“These health services have nothing to do with the activities the Bill seeks to proscribe but may be construed to be if the Bill is passed in its current form. Donors will [therefore] withdraw their funding if they are criminalized by this Bill,”
The Anti-LGBTQ bill which was submitted by some parliamentarians is still in the hands of the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament
