The chairperson of the Executive council of LAWA of Ghana, Sheilla Menkah-premo has elucidated that what the law says about baby mamas and side chicks in the life of men.
She was interview by Samson Lardy Anyenini, the lawyer stated that the new intestate succession bill did not include provision for concubines, side chics and baby mama’s to enjoy property when his male lover dies.
Sheila Minkah -Premo highlighted that all the effort to ensure women who have cohabitated with the deceased for 5 years of his successors proved pointless.

She indicated that, “These two laws based on Article 22 have gone side by side. The Intestate Succession Bill and the Property Rights of Spouses Bill. In an earlier version of the Property Rights of Spouses Bill, an attempt was made to make provision for cohabitees who have lived for five years, but that was strongly objected to. So the last draft of the Property Rights of Spouses Bill, that has been totally taken off. The idea is that, they said, if you look at Article 22, it talks about spouses, it doesn’t talk about anything else,”
The lawyer emphasized that the children of the deceased born in marriage or outside marriage are qualified to his property.
She added that “In case, the children will benefit the definition of children is children, whether born within or outside a marriage. So the children will benefit
But unfortunately, the ‘Baby mama’ and ‘side chicks’ will not benefit”
