Nana Addo Dankwa Akofo Addo, The president of Ghana has revealed aspirants of the next ruling leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as his term of office is coming to an end.
Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Minister of Trade and Industries, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, reportedly have shown interest in becoming the flag bearer of the party currently in power.
Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and Dr. Owusu are part of a selected touring team of presidents in the Ashanti Region.
The president announced at Manhyia Palace the seat of Asantene on Friday, 1st October 2021, at the beginning of the four-day tour in the Ashanti Region.
“Nana let me introduce my team,” he started. “This is your grandson Dr. Afriyie Akoto, my Agric Minister who wants to become the president.”
The president also introduced Mr. Kyerematen to the king.
The president presented Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen to the king saying that the Minister is a hard-working man and has been vying for his seat for a very long time,” he gave a small laugh and the crowd joined him.
The ruling party has members who have started campaigning ahead of the presidential primaries in 2023.
The ruling party has dished out warnings to aspiring members who intended to campaign will be punished.
The aspiring members including the vice president Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
The president who has led the party for six years visited Darko farms and inspect the Abuakwa -Tanoso Road on Saturday as part of his touring to the Ashanti Region.
