Musah Yussif, 45, was lynched at a burial site in Agric, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region, by several youngsters.
According to information acquired by various online news portals, the dead person had a disagreement with another person on the burial grounds, and as a result, he went home, returned with a pistol, and began firing into the gathering.
Several mourners on the funeral grounds underwent varying degrees of injury, resulting in an attack on Mr. Yussif that led to his death.
Supt. Bernard Baba Ananga, the Northern Region Crime Officer who verified the event to the press, said early investigations suggested that the dead was lynched.
He further reported that five other individuals received gunshot wounds, with three being treated in serious condition at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
However, Supt. Ananga said that a Subchief Kanbong Naa who is reported to have had a disagreement with the deceased has been called to help the police in their investigation.
He pleaded with inhabitants of Agric to come forward with information that might aid the police in their investigations.
